Youth Ministry at St. John XXIII Parish serves our young people in middle school and high school, inviting them into a welcoming environment filled with faith, fun, and friends.
We are dedicated to giving our young people a safe and loving space to explore their identities as active participants in a personal relationship with Christ. During youth group, teens have the opportunity to make meaning of their faith in small groups with their grade-level peers and an adult mentor. We also have nights dedicated to unique and engaging forms of reflective prayer, as well as frequent exercises in creative expression to encourage youth to explore their relationships with God and the Church in a hands-on, embodied way. We seek to support the next generation of the Church, giving teens the opportunity to practice living as Christ's disciples through witness, service, ministry, and leadership. Once a month, we prepare over 200 meals for the Interfaith Soup Kitchen in Evanston. We encourage young people to share their stories of faith -- the highest highs, the lowest lows, and everything in-between -- and help them build their confidence to do so with pastoral care and guidance. We are committed to inspiring our youth to serve in the Liturgy because of a love of the Mass, and we are committed to connecting them with the people and resources needed to do so. We also believe in the power of fun! We start each youth group with some time to socialize, and end with an open gym, board games, or comfy couches great for chatting, whichever floats your boat! We believe that joy is a natural expression of God's love and that community is a necessary part of God's Church. Young people, you are welcomed. You are loved. You are valued. See you soon :) Learn MoreQuestions or comments? We want to hear from you!
