Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLW) is a faith formation program during Mass. We often tell the children that it is the kids' table at our thanksgiving (Eucharistic) meal. Children from kindergarten to sixth grade gather in the Rectory basement during the Liturgy of the Word. Following the Opening Prayer of Mass, the children process with CLW Leaders to the Rectory. Prayerfully, candles are lit, and the day's scripture is read from the Children's Lectionary. Then, with the help of the Leaders, the children reflect on what is happening in the scriptures and the main message. Each week they see how they can apply that message to their lives age-appropriately. We close with Prayers of the Faithful and return to the Main Church by the Presentation of the Gifts.
Children are always welcome to join the procession at Mass. No registration is required. All are welcome. We are Always in Need of Adult Volunteers
It is a fulfilling ministry to hear what is on our children's hearts, minds, and spirits. Opportunities include leading sessions (lesson plans provided), assisting sessions (another helpful adult), and cantoring (we sing the Psalm and Gospel Acclamation).
For those interested in leading, we will meet for training. In addition, you are invited to shadow until you feel comfortable leading. Teens are highly encouraged to volunteer as assistants, and hours can be used for Confirmation requirements. Coordinators for the 10:15 a.m. Sunday Mass are Jackie Beale-DelVecchio, Nora Bondi, and Maryjoy Carnate. Please complete the form below if you’d like to be contacted about volunteering.
