Our Religious Education Program for our children (PreK-High School) is a family-centered program offering two tracks, one in Spanish and one in English to meet the needs of your family.

​Traditional  Classroom Program (English): 
Classes for children, PreK through High School, who attend public or secular private schools, meet September 22, 2024 to May 4, 2025.
  • Choose Sundays, 9:00-10:15 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church, Pope John XXIII School
  • or Sundays, 11:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Church, Children's Center
  • Unit Kickoff Sessions: parents gather in Unit Kickoff Sessions to introduce the unit theme and encourage connections between the families and the parish.

​Traditional  Classroom Program (Bilingual Spanish/English) 
Classes for children, 1st Grade through High School, who attend public or secular private schools, meet September 21, 2024 to May 3, 2025
  • Classes meet on Saturdays at 9:15-11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church, Pope John XXIII School
  • Trained volunteer catechists are the teachers in our traditional classrooms.​

Home-Based Catechesis
  • At-Home Program: This program is designed for parents who want to be more intimately involved with their children’s faith formation by working as catechists for their children within the context of their family home life and in cooperation with the Parish Religious Education Program.
  • Unit Kickoff Sessions: Parents gather in Unit Kickoff Sessions to introduce the unit theme and encourage connections between the families and the parish.
  • Parents act as teachers of the weekly lessons at home using the same textbooks as our traditional program with lesson plans created for parents’ use.

Curriculum Information
We use the Finding God bilingual textbook series from Loyola Press to help families integrate the rites and traditions of the Catholic Faith into their daily lives and raise awareness that the life of the Church is in our homes, our schools and workplaces, in the life of our communities, and in the world.

​Sacramental Preparation
All the children of our parish, whether they participate in our Religious Education Program or attend our parish school, Pope John XXIII, or another Catholic school, come together with their families through the parish religious education program to prepare to celebrate the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation.
