We welcome all visitors and new parishioners to worship and share in the traditions of our Catholic faith in a diverse, accessible and active community. If you are searching for a spiritual home, we encourage you to join us often at any of our weekend Masses. The ushers will give you a welcome card or take one from one of the card holders at the entrances to the church. Please fill out the welcome card and return it in the self-addressed envelope to the parish office.  When you indicate an interest in joining St. John XXIII Parish, a membership form will be sent to you or download below, complete and mail it in.

There are semi-annual special welcoming events after the 9:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday with introductions from the Parish Pastoral Council and a few of the parish ministries. The dates of these events will be posted on this site, in the Sunday bulletin and will be announced at Mass a few weeks before the event. We want you to join us in one of the many ministries. Parish life is active and meaningful. Check us out! There are many opportunities to get involved in the active life of St. John XXIII Parish.

Registration

New parishioners can register online or download and complete a paper registration form. Paper forms can be returned by placing it in the collection basket during Mass, bringing it to the Parish Office, or mailing it to St. John XXIII Church, 806 Ridge Avenue, Evanston, IL 60202.

Mass times for every heart and schedule

5:00 PM / SATURDAY (ENGLISH) 
This vigil mass rotates between St. Mary Church (April 1 to September 30) and St. Nicholas Church (October 1 to March 31). The mass is popular with college students, busy families, and those with early morning obligations on Sundays.  
 
8:00 AM / St. Mary Church (ENGLISH) 
This mass is great for early risers and is popular with families with young children, and senior members of our community. The music blends traditional and contemporary styles utilizing both piano and organ accompaniment with a cantor serving as song leader. The 8:00 AM Mass can best be described as quietly reverent and accessible to the diversity of the entire John XXIII community.  
 
10:00 AM / St. Mary Church (ENGLISH)    
This mass draws people of all ages from families with young children to seniors and is convenient for families with children who attend the religious education program at the St. Mary campus. It is convenient for visitors staying downtown/visiting Northwestern University. The music at this mass blends contemporary and traditional styles, and during most liturgical seasons, is supported by choir and cantor. The 10:00 AM Mass can best be described as joyfully diverse. 
 
12:00 PM / St. Mary Church (FRENCH with some Creole translations available) 
First Sunday of the Month Only 
This mass is attended by families and individuals throughout the parish and the local area who find a unique experience in celebrating the liturgy with the St. John XXIII French-creole community. The music offered includes a variety of styles including chant, classical, traditional and contemporary. The 12:00 PM Mass is lively, spirited and welcoming to all. 
 
8:30 AM / St. Nicholas Church (SPANISH) 
The 8:30 AM Spanish Mass welcomes individuals and families to a peaceful, reflective liturgy. Culturally appropriate music supports an assembly that actively participates in a reverent and deeply prayerful manner. This mass can best be described as having a strong family feel. 
   
10:30 AM / St. Nicholas Church (ENGLISH)  
This mass draws people of all ages from families with young children to seniors. Children’s Liturgy of the Word is celebrated regularly, giving the youngest members of our community an opportunity to engage with scripture in age-appropriate ways. The musical repertoire is rich and varied in style with the congregation lead by cantor, choir and instrumentalists (piano, guitars, violins, acoustic bass) giving a lively feel to the worship experience. 
 
12:30 PM / St. Nicholas Church (SPANISH)  
The 12:30 PM Spanish Mass welcomes individuals and families to a relaxed liturgy where community members arrive unhurried, yet present and prepared to participate. Music supports solemn and well-organized liturgy, as well as a strong sense of belonging, friendship, and cultural connection of those gathered. The mass is a joyful and welcoming celebration for all who attend.
