Parish Giving

Giving is now even easier with Pushpay!

Give with Pushpay
The transition to Pushpay is almost complete! Pushpay is our new online giving service. Among other benefits, Pushpay offers an easier mobile giving experience and lower costs for the parish on credit card transactions. It will also integrate with our new parish management system (and our upcoming app!), which we believe can help put more of your St. John XXIII experience into your hands.

If you haven't yet switched to Pushpay from Faith Direct or Give Central, please do so immediately! We've initiated the process to close our Faith Direct and Give Central accounts. After the companies finalize our termination, you will no longer be able to give to St. John XXIII Parish, St. Nicholas Church, St. Mary Church, or any of our affiliated ministries or funds using Faith Direct or Give Central. If you want to make sure your future online donations continue to reach St. John XXIII Parish, now is the time to switch to Pushpay!

Please don't hesitate to reach out to us if you have questions or want help making the switch. We're here for you! Simply email [email protected] or call the parish office at 847.864.1185. There are several of us working on this transition who are ready to help with any and all questions. ¡Tenemos personas que hablan español!

METHOD 1: CANCEL YOUR SCHEDULED GIFTS & REMOVE PAYMENT OPTION
Cancel Scheduled Gifts in Faith Direct
  1. Go to Faith Direct
    1. If you give through the St. Mary Church Faith Direct, go to https://membership.faithdirect.net/IL372
    2. If you give through the St. Nicholas Church Faith Direct, go to https://membership.faithdirect.net/IL909
  2. Sign in to your account
    1. If you don’t remember your login information, click “Forgot Password” or “Forgot Sign In” and follow the steps.
  3. “Suspend” your payment method. Go to “Update My Payment Info” and scroll down and select “Suspend Payment Method.”
    1. There’s a chance that you may receive email alerts until we close our account. If you do, you should be able to unsubscribe from them in the emails themselves.
  4. Change “My Gifts” to $0.00. Go to “My Gifts” and change the amount of each gift you have set up to $0.00. To do this, you will need to edit each recurring/scheduled gift you have set up. To edit a gift, select the little blue edit pencil on the right.
Once you’re done with your Faith Direct account, you’re ready to sign up for Pushpay!

METHOD 2: CANCEL YOUR FAITH DIRECT eGIVING ACCOUNT*
Cancel Your Faith Direct Account (*Not available for all accounts, for some reason)
NOTE: Some parishioners may just be able to cancel their Faith Direct account outright! We genuinely don’t know why this option for some people but not for others, but it is worth checking.
  1. Go to Faith Direct
    1. If you give through the St. Mary Church Faith Direct, go to https://membership.faithdirect.net/IL372
    2. If you give through the St. Nicholas Church Faith Direct, go to https://membership.faithdirect.net/IL909
  2. Sign in to your account
    1. If you don’t remember your login information, click “Forgot Password” or “Forgot Sign In” and follow the steps.
  3. On the main page of your Faith Direct Account, look at the bottom right corner for a “Cancel My eGiving Account” option.
  4. Choose “Other” as the “Reason for Cancellation” in the dropdown menu.
Once you're done with your Faith Direct account, you're ready to sign up for Pushpay!

Sign into your Give Central account (www.givecentral.org). If you forgot your sign in or password, they will help you reset from the log-in screen.

On your "My Account" screen, under the "My Giving" header, click on the delete icon (the little trash can) next to EACH of your recurring gifts.
Picture
You will see that you have no donations scheduled. You should receive an email confirming this request.

Now click on "My Profile" (in the left sidebar). Under "Payment Information," click the delete icon (the little trash can) next to your payment method.

You should receive another email confirming this request.

Congratulations! You have successfully discontinued your contributions to St. John XXIII Parish through Give Central. Now you're ready to set up your Pushpay Account!
Creating Your Pushpay Account
The easiest way to create your Pushpay account is by making a one-time gift or setting up a recurring gift! You can make a one-time gift for as little as $1. (Making a $1 gift is how our parish's Pushpay transition team set up our accounts!)
If you do not use a cell phone that can receive text messages (smartphone or otherwise), please contact the parish office (847.864.1185) for help setting up your Pushpay account. Sorry for any inconvenience!
PDF of these instructions (bilingual)

Quick Explanation
  1. Scan the QR code on the back of a pew or click the “Give with Pushpay” button at stjohn23evanston.org/give. (You're at stjohn23evanston.org/give right now! The "Give with Pushpay" button mentioned is the big red button above all these instructions. Or, you can just click this link here. :)
  2. Enter the amount you want to donate and choose to make a one-time gift or set up a recurring gift. (If you want to set up a recurring gift, select the frequency of the gift and enter the start date.) Finally, select the fund to which you’re making a donation.
  3. Enter your phone number to receive a text with a six-digit verification code; enter the verification code.
  4. Enter your name, email, and payment information; this will be saved for next time.
  5. Confirm your gift and choose whether or not you want to help cover the cost of the transaction. Then make your donation and/or schedule your recurring gift!

Detailed Explanation
  1. Scan the QR code on the sticker on the back of a pew, or use your web browser to visit stjohn23evanston.org/give and click the red “Give with Pushpay” button.
    1. Guess what? You're already at stjohn23evanston.org/give right now! The red "Give with Pushpay" button mentioned is the big red button above all these instructions. Or, since you're already down here reading these instructions, you can just click this link here. :)
  2. Just under the word “Give,” type in the amount you would like to donate.
  3. Choose whether you want to make a one-time gift or set up a recurring gift. If you want to set up a recurring gift, select how often you would like to make the gift and the date on which you would like it to start.
    1. Note: The default starting date will always be the current day. If you are trying to set up, for example, a yearly Christmas gift, but you don’t want the first donation to come out until next Christmas, you’ll need to set the starting date to 12/25/25 (or whichever date you choose).
  4. Choose what fund you want your donation to go towards. The default is Weekly Offertory. If you would like to give to the weekly offertory using Pushpay instead of putting cash, a check, or an envelope into the offertory basket, leave Weekly Offertory selected. If there’s a second collection on a given weekend, the second collection will always be the second choice in the fund drop-down list.
  5. Click the “Next” button.
  6. Silence your phone if you're in Mass! Then enter your cell phone number and click “Next” again.
  7. Within a few seconds, you should receive a text with a six-digit security code. Type those six numbers into the security code box and click “Confirm.” Note: Pushpay will ONLY text you codes to verify your identity and get you logged into your account. You don’t have to worry about annoying marketing texts or reminders!
  8. Enter your name, email, and payment information. After this time, your information will be securely stored in your account, so you won’t need to enter those details again. Now take a bow, because you have a Pushpay account!
  9. Confirm your gift and, if you are willing, choose to add 2.2% to your donation to help us cover the cost of the transaction. That’s only $0.22 on a $10 donation, but it adds up to be a big help to the parish!
  10. Make your donation or set up your recurring gift!

What will be quicker next time?
Next time, you won’t need to enter your name, email, or credit card information. You may be asked for your phone number so you can receive another verification text, but even if you are, that only takes a few seconds! Then you’ll jump straight from entering your gift to the confirmation and transaction cost screen (step 9). How easy is that?

Looking for a personal recommendation? Ask Shelley Benson, Chair of the Parish Pastoral Council!

Thank you so much for your willingness to learn this new process with us. If you want to walk through the transition with someone, visit the parish office or give us a call at 847.864.1185!
Managing Your Existing Pushpay Account
Written instructions coming soon! In the meantime, please enjoy this video walkthrough (no sound).
Once you get logged in to your existing Pushpay account, not only can you manage your recurring donations, but you can also update your contact or payment information, view your giving history, make a one-time gift, and more!
Video Message from Fr. Jean-Philippe about Pushpay
NOTE: This video says that our goal is to complete the transition by September 22, 2024. Clearly that didn't happen! The rest of the information is still accurate, however.

NOTA: Este vídeo dice que nuestro objetivo es completar la transición para el 22 de septiembre de 2024. ¡Está claro que eso no ha ocurrido! Sin embargo, el resto de la información sigue siendo correcta.
FAQs
How will this affect my 2024 tax statement?
You'll still receive tax statements from Faith Direct and Give Central for any donations made through their online giving platforms. You'll receive a tax statement from Pushpay for any donations made in envelopes or by check. Going forward, you will only receive one tax statement from Pushpay for both online donations and cash or check donations.

Do I have to make the switch to Pushpay?
Nope! Pushpay will be the only way to give to the parish online after January 31, 2025, but moving away from online giving is absolutely okay. Please do still close (or zero out) your Give Central or Faith Direct account, even if you're not opening a Pushpay account at this time. As you surely know, online giving is not the only way to support St. John XXIII Parish! You can always use the collection baskets during Mass, mail cash or checks to the parish office (806 Ridge Ave, Evanston, IL 60202), or sign up to receive weekly or monthly donation envelopes sent straight to your home. (Call the parish office at 847.864.1185 or email [email protected] to request envelopes.)
