The Monthly Catholic Book Club is an informal gathering to discuss current books on Christian faith, philosophy, and Catholic teaching in the Catholic intellectual tradition.
The group has been meeting since 2017. It began by reading the Encyclicals of St. John Paul II, but from there grew to include many other authors, ancient, modern and contemporary. This includes texts by St. Augustine, John Henry Cardinal Newman, G.K. Chesterton, C.S. Lewis, Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger (Benedict XVI), and many others. The discussions are often academically rigorous and engaging. The membership of the group has historically been men, but that wasn’t by design. All are welcome! Meetings generally occur on the 2nd Saturday of the month at 8:45 to 10 a.m. at the St. Mary Campus Parish Center. Please email Jon Benson at videnturmihi@gmail.com to confirm each month’s meeting date. |
